Sonic Adventure
A journey between two songs.
Pick a start and an end track; liquidWave builds the path between them, each step sonically a little closer to the destination.
Self-hosted sonic discovery for Emby
liquidWave listens to every track in your own Emby library and turns it into sonic mixes, endless radio, and journeys that morph from one song into the next — all on your own hardware, nothing leaving your network.
Made for your library
Local analysis turns the music you already own into a player that understands how it fits together.
Sonic Adventure
Pick a start and an end track; liquidWave builds the path between them, each step sonically a little closer to the destination.
Sonic Mixes
Auto-curated mixes grouped by how your music really sounds — not by genre tags. Refresh any mix for a fresh take on the same mood, or save it straight to an Emby playlist.

Track Radio & Similar
Open any track for an endless queue that flows on from it — or a list of songs, artists and albums that genuinely sound like it, drawn from your own library.

Artist Mix Creator
Choose a few artists, let it suggest sonically similar ones, then build a shuffled cross-artist mix that stays coherent.
Now Playing, done right
Crossfade that lands on where the music actually starts and stops — skipping silent intros and long fade-outs — plus volume-levelling so a quiet track and a loud one sit at the same volume.

Not just music
liquidWave is a proper audiobook player as well — its own library, playback-speed control, and resume that remembers your place even offline, then syncs back when you reconnect. Books and music, one app.

On the road
Full Android Auto — browse your library, mixes and stations, and control playback right on the car's screen.
Wherever you listen
Stations, Sonic mixes and recent plays on the home screen.
Download a playlist or audiobook, play it with no signal.
A browser player for non-Android devices.
Ten-band equaliser, per-device.
Now Playing on your launcher.
Send it to a Chromecast, TV or SHIELD.
Private by design
Analysis, index, everything on your own hardware. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no telemetry.
Analysis only reads audio; results live in their own database, never written back to your files or Emby.
Only outbound connections are a one-time ~327 MB model download and normal package pulls; after that it runs fully offline.
Your library, re-scored
Runs on an Emby server (4.8+) and an Android phone — the full setup takes about five minutes to start.
It's a public beta — actively developed, so expect the odd rough edge. Bug reports and ideas are welcome.
Yes — and I'm not hiding it. A lot of the code, and this page, were built with AI as a tool.
But the AI didn't design it, decide it, or run itself. The architecture, the features, what ships and what gets cut, the testing on real devices, the judgement calls — those are all mine. AI is a fast set of hands; keeping a project like this coherent, honest and actually good still takes a great deal of human time and care.
Whether that sits right with you is your call. Either way it was made with care — and because it's self-hosted and open, you can always see exactly what it's doing.
